Slanted 27 Portugal
This essay provided an opportunity to explore books (and book design) and underrepresented designers. The Modernist aesthetic, which shaped much of Europe in the 1950s, influenced a range of creative fields, from textiles to architecture. It also made its mark in graphic design, particularly through the striking book covers designed by Victor Palla and Sebastião Rodrigues. These two designers are the focus of Dermot’s essay for Slanted magazine, where he delves into their work and examines how they embodied Modernism in their designs.
