Paul Dry Books: Rocky Stories
Pulitzer Prize-winners Michael Vitez and Tom Gralish spent a year visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art to capture the stories of “Rocky runners”.

Rocky Stories Book Production
With a foreword by none other than Sylvester Stallone, this wonderful book explores the lives and dreams of people from all over the world who come to Philadelphia to run up America’s most famous steps. Pulitzer Prize-winners Michael Vitez and Tom Gralish spent a year visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art to capture the stories of “Rocky runners,” and this book is a photographic, visual testament to all those who make the trip to fulfil their dreams, just as Rocky did in the eponymous movie from 1976. We worked closely with both writer and photographer to create a book that highlights the photography, and doesn’t get in the way of the writing. We endeavored to create a cover & interior design that brings the content to life, and shows it in a clear and consistent manner. We also split the book into four seasons, each treated with large color blocks, leading the reader into the respective sections. Our primary goal was to design a book interior that was both fun and easy to read while maintaining a cohesive thought and layout. This was achieved through the use of a common grid and accessible typography.
