We love design; it’s what we do and it drives us to nurture the partnerships we have with our clients. We believe that listening is critical, process is key, collaboration is vital, and that design is a valuable contribution to the world of business, art, and culture. The 21xdesign blog features anything from discussing recent projects, exploring antique books we love, to the technologies that drive our profession.
What a strange trip it’s been…
Well, here it is folks, our brand new website. Months in the making, we are proud to say that it’s finally up and running and we’re delighted to have it out there for all the world to see. Designing and developing an in-depth site like this is no small task, but then again, what creative endeavor is not. We went through numerous iterations, multiple designs and built and took apart this site many, many times. But we persevered and stuck with it so that now we have a responsive site built with the Wordpress CMS, so it will look good on your mobile phone as well as your iPad, or any other tablet device for that matter.

We’ll give you 3 guesses where this was captured? In Philly – but where? Seemed to say “shoot me” and so I did. You never know where an ″X” is going to show up!

Pentimenti – an Italian term coming from the word meaning ‘repent.’ It can refer to the lines or marks which remain after an artist corrects their drawings or paintings. These photographs, taken in Rome over a period of a month, were inspired by the layers of torn and worn posters that dot the ancient city. Even though their primary function as a poster and a piece of communication had long since faded, their weathered layers of tattered and torn paper, revealed another meaning in a new light.Click here to see a preview of the...

We’ve always loved films and have been fascinated with the entire process and creativity that goes into creating a film. Now that we’ve created a seven minute short film (in collaboration with the great guys over at Springhouse Films) now more than ever we watch films with an even keener eye. We dissect camera angles, how the film has been lit, how the sound captures the mood and how the art direction moves the narrative along. It’s a ton of work of course. A labour of love really but the end result is so rewarding, especially when viewed...

We’ve got another one. This X was submitted by Tom McFadden. We’re really digging the textures and the third eye, which is a symbol of enlightenment in Hinduism and Buddhism. Here’Shiva, a Hindu diety, is believed to possess a third eye which if opened would destroy the known physical universe. Heavy stuff. Thanks for the X Tom! We’re still accepting entries, 5.5″ x 5.5″ at 300 d.p.i. We’d love to see any interesting or unique X you can make or find. Submit at info@21xdesign.com.

A very cool fabric piece, made up of linen warp, wool, cotton and linen weft. It’s currently on display at the Muckross House in Killarney, Ireland if anyone is going across the pond and wants to check it out. Thank you Mary! We’re still accepting entries, 5.5″ x 5.5″ at 300 d.p.i. We’d love to see any interesting or unique X you can make or find. Submit...
